Golden Jubilee Celebration of 50 years of the Protestant Council of Rwanda (CPR) on August 16, 2014.

FROM THE DESK OF THE CPR GENERAL SECRETARY

On behalf of member church leaders and CPR staff, I am pleased to express our joy to reach the stage of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of 50 years of the Protestant Council of Rwanda (CPR), on August 16, 2014.

It was a longer journey from November 5, 1963 up today. It was full of challenges and success. The achievements that we celebrate are attributed to men and women who worked hard to found CPR with the clear mission, vision and objectives that have beared much fruits during the 50 years ago in Rwanda.

The center mission of CPR is to maintain the unity of the Church of Christ, as it is written in John 17:21 : “that all of them may be one”. The practice of this mission led the Protestants Churches of Rwanda to live in truth, unity and love, inspite of their denominational diversity. They together coordinated evangelization, education, health centers and hospitals, publishing, youth and women programs successfully for the honor and glory of God. They have developed all strategies to promote socio-economic areas in different sectors in the country, through a frank partnership with the Government and other internal and external organizations.

We have reasons to celebrate as the people of God. During 50 years ago, the Good News of Jesus Christ has spread all over the country, via local Churches and the CPR “Radio Inkoramutima”. Thousands of Nursery, Primary and High schools have been tremendously increased, and six Universities were founded. 18 health centers and 8 hospitals are effectively serving people in different regions of Rwanda. Associations of women and youth are well progressing in all local parishes and the national levels.

We can dare to say like Paul to Thessalonians 5:24 that “He who calls us is faithful, Who also will do it”. We hope to achieve more in the coming years with the help of God. To Him be everlasting glory.
