Rwanda: Protestant Churches inaugurate state-of-the art ‘Unity House’

Representatives of church members of the Protestant Council of Rwanda (PCR) and different Christian organisations on Thursday, March 23, 2023 inaugurated a commercial building named, “ CPR-Unity House.”

The newly opened facility is located in Niboyi sector, Kicukiro District on the side of the Sonatubes- Gahanga-Akagera road. Its construction works cost nearly 500 million Rwandan Francs with no loan.

Ahead of the inauguration ceremony, Bishop Samuel Kayinamura, the president of Protestant Council of Rwanda, stressed that such achievement is a symbol of unity among churches and Christian organisations.

Kayinamura said that CPR-Unity House adds more value to the coalition and will strengthen their resilience and independence.

“Putting together our efforts to build such a modern commercial building is something to be grateful for. It will strengthen our resilience. Our unity should be a good example to others and encouragement to strive for self-reliance without waiting for external support,” he noted.

The president added that they are working hard to be self-reliant until they become sponsors too instead of relying on sponsorship.

“The house will benefit all members. It will increase our revenues which will be used to increase our investments. We are grateful that denominations are joining hands with the same vision to build the church and contribute to the development of the country,” Bishop Kayinamura added.

“Let’s build on unity. When people embrace unity and team work, everything is possible”, he said.

Pastor Isaie Ndayizeye, a legal representative of the Association of Pentecostal Churches of Rwanda (ADEPR), highlighted the importance of self-reliance saying that all church activities such as evangelism, education, and reconciliation need financial capital.

“This achievement of building such a facility should inspire other organisations. Development is part of our teachings. Building a commercial house motivates and inspires our church members to embrace investments,” he noted.

CPR-Unity House was built by Legacy Engineering and Supply Ltd. The company’s Managing Director, Albert Ndungutse, thanked God for keeping them accountable and honest to phase out the project.
